Wi-Fi reached 770 million shipments this year

Research firm ABI Research expects 2010 worldwide Wi-Fi chipset shipments will reach 770 million, up 33%. By then, 802.11n chip shipments more than 802.11g, 60% market share.

ABI Research analyst Sailiyabo (Celia Bo) said: "802.11n standard rise from last year and this year's shipments of Wi-Fi major driver of growth."

In the next five years, mobile phones will be the biggest consumer of the main Wi-Fi chip, 2015 penetration will reach 40% compound annual growth rate of 25%. In addition, the notebook, netbook and MID devices are also important Wi-Fi carrier.
